Harry Brook says 202 has no value after England lose despite record double century

Brook's fastest ODI double century proved futile as Sri Lanka completed the second-highest successful chase in the format.

England captain Harry Brook said his record 202 off 116 balls had no value after Sri Lanka chased down 430 to win by two wickets in the ODI tri-series match at Rawalpindi on Thursday. Brook became the first England batter to score an ODI double century and reached the landmark in 114 balls, breaking Shubman Gill's previous record of 117 deliveries.

Brook hit 21 fours and 10 sixes in his 116-ball innings as England posted 429 for 4. Sri Lanka recovered from 24 for 2 through centuries from Avishka Fernando and Pavan Rathnayake before Dasun Shanaka and Janith Liyanage finished the chase with one ball to spare.

England have now lost their opening two matches in the tri-series and face Pakistan in Lahore on Sunday. Sri Lanka's chase is the second-highest successful run chase in ODI history.
