Abhinav Mukund says selectors face difficult choices over Bumrah's ODI role

Abhinav Mukund warned that selectors must weigh Bumrah's fitness against India's requirement for a specialist death bowler in ODIs.

Former India batter Abhinav Mukund said the selection panel must balance Jasprit Bumrah's fitness with India's need for a proven death bowler in ODIs. Bumrah has not played a 50-over match since the 2023 World Cup.

Bumrah is reported to be clinically fit for the upcoming Afghanistan T20I series but must complete practice matches before a final decision. The simulations are scheduled between 4 and 9 September.

Selectors must decide whether to include a bowler with limited availability or build depth with players who can play across formats. The board has not confirmed Bumrah's participation in the 50-over format after the T20 series.
