Gautam Gambhir says Mayank Yadav should bowl at full pace without holding back

Gautam Gambhir backed Mayank Yadav to bowl at full pace after the fast bowler took three wickets in three overs in India's loss to West Indies in Ranchi.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir said Mayank Yadav should bowl at his natural pace after the fast bowler took three wickets in the second T20I against West Indies in Ranchi. Mayank dismissed Kamil Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell in three overs, with his fastest delivery clocked at 149.5 kmph.

Gambhir said a fast bowler has a duty to bowl fast and that Mayank succeeded because he trusted his pace instead of experimenting with slower deliveries. The coach added that the bowlers' careers are at stake and that India wants an even contest between bat and ball. Gambhir also said games are not decided in the first over and the West Indies are a strong T20 side.

West Indies chased down India's 249 for five with six wickets and nine balls to spare. The third T20I is scheduled for Indore on 11 October.
