Rest of India defeated Jammu and Kashmir by 167 runs to win the Irani Cup in Srinagar on Sunday. Chasing 279, Jammu and Kashmir were bowled out for 111 in 28.4 overs. Mukesh Kumar finished with six for 33, including three wickets in the final over.
Akash Deep took three for 25 to support the victory. The pair shared nine wickets as Jammu and Kashmir lost their last seven wickets for 22 runs after reaching 89 for three. Mukesh Kumar and Akash Deep both represent Bengal and have followed similar career paths from Bihar to the national side.
The win marks Rest of India's first Irani Cup title since the 2024-25 season. The bowlers adjusted lengths after the drinks break and switched to a fuller line that proved decisive.
