Ramesh Powar appointed to BCCI men's selection committee
Ramesh Powar replaces Ajit Agarkar on the men's selection committee after the CAC completed its interview process.
The Cricket Advisory Committee recommended Ramesh Powar for the men's selection committee after interviewing applicants at BCCI headquarters. Powar played two Tests and 31 ODIs for India and later coached the India women's team to the Asia Cup title and Commonwealth Games silver medal. He has also served as head coach of Mumbai and Gujarat and as bowling coach at the BCCI Centre of Excellence.
The BCCI thanked outgoing chairman Ajit Agarkar for guiding the committee through three ICC trophies, two Asia Cup titles and back-to-back Asian Games gold medals since July 2023. Pragyan Ojha will chair the committee on seniority grounds.
The new five-member panel comprises Pragyan Ojha, Shiv Sundar Das, RP Singh, Ajay Ratra and Ramesh Powar. The committee will begin selecting squads for upcoming limited-overs and Test commitments.
