Suresh Raina urges KKR to appoint Rinku Singh as captain

Suresh Raina called on Kolkata Knight Riders to appoint Rinku Singh as captain ahead of the IPL 2027 season. Rinku led Meerut Mavericks to nine wins in ten matches in the UP T20 League 2026.

Rinku guided Meerut Mavericks to the title, defeating Bhuvneshwar Kumar's Lucknow Falcons by 94 runs in the final. Divyansh Joshi scored 105 off 40 balls and Vishal Chaudhary took 4 for 24 in the title-winning campaign.

Rinku was among eight players dropped from India's T20I squad for the upcoming series against Afghanistan. The UP T20 League provided him an opportunity to lead in the shortest format before the IPL auction cycle begins.
