West Indies duo Powell and Rutherford receive ICC reprimands
The ICC sanctioned Powell and Rutherford for separate Level 1 breaches during West Indies' record chase in Ranchi. India now lead the five-match series 2-1 after a 14-run win in Indore.
Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford received official reprimands and one demerit point each from the ICC on Monday for Level 1 Code of Conduct breaches during the second T20I against India in Ranchi last Friday. Powell was charged under Article 2.2 for striking the ball away with his bat after dismissal in the sixth over. Rutherford breached Article 2.8 after yelling aggressively at the umpire in the 13th over when a delivery he believed was wide was ruled legitimate. Both players admitted the offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Prakash Bhatt, eliminating the need for formal hearings. The charges were laid by on-field umpires Jayaraman Madanagopal and Rohan Pandit, third umpire Nitin Menon and fourth umpire Virender Sharma. The incidents occurred during West Indies' record chase of 250, which they completed with six wickets in hand. India regained the series lead with a 14-run victory in the third T20I in Indore on Sunday.
