Gavaskar criticises BCCI domestic schedule split for IPL auction

Sunil Gavaskar criticised the BCCI's decision to split the Ranji Trophy schedule around the IPL auction. The former India captain said the arrangement disrupts domestic teams' preparation and momentum during the premier first-class competition.

The schedule change forces Ranji Trophy teams to pause mid-tournament while IPL franchises conduct their annual player auction. Gavaskar argued this creates an uneven playing field as some teams benefit from the break while others lose rhythm.

The criticism comes as the BCCI balances domestic cricket requirements with the commercial demands of the IPL calendar. No official response has been issued by the board regarding the schedule concerns.
