Suresh Raina says MS Dhoni asked what he had done after 2020 retirement
Suresh Raina revealed MS Dhoni's surprised reaction after both players retired from international cricket on the same day in August 2020.
Suresh Raina said MS Dhoni reacted with surprise when told that Raina would also retire from international cricket on 15 August 2020. Dhoni had announced his retirement earlier that morning. Raina described the exchange in recent interviews marking the anniversary of both retirements.
The two players had shared dressing rooms at India and Chennai Super Kings for more than a decade. Raina recalled Dhoni's measured reply and the close bond that developed across their careers. Both players ended their international careers within hours of each other after beginning with India's 2007 World Twenty20 triumph.
Raina said the decision stunned everyone involved. He described Dhoni's first words as a simple question about the timing of the announcement.
