Virat Kohli passes 15,000 ODI runs with unbeaten 139

Kohli reaches 15,000 ODI runs and his 55th ODI hundred in India's eight-wicket win over West Indies.

Virat Kohli hit his 55th ODI hundred and passed 15,000 career runs in the format as India beat West Indies by eight wickets in the series opener on Sunday. The 37-year-old scored an unbeaten 139 off 88 balls with 10 fours and nine sixes.

Shubman Gill also scored a century with 110 off 108 balls as India chased down 296 in 41.4 overs. West Indies had posted 295 for 7 with Justin Greaves scoring his maiden ODI ton, but Kuldeep Yadav took 4 for 40 to restrict the visitors.

Kohli reached 15,000 ODI runs in his 303rd innings, faster than Sachin Tendulkar who took 377 innings. The second and third ODIs will be played in Guwahati and Chandigarh.
