Ishan Kishan became the second Indian batter to score 1,000 T20I runs in a calendar year, reaching the milestone during the Asian Games 2026 final on October 3 at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. The wicketkeeper-batter closed out his 2026 tally at 1,005 runs at a strike rate of 169.47. Suryakumar Yadav is the only other Indian to have crossed 1,000 T20I runs in a single calendar year, scoring 1,164 runs in 2022 at a strike rate of 187.43.

Kishan's 1,005 runs place him seventh on the list of batters to score 1,000-plus T20I runs in a calendar year. Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan leads the list with 1,326 runs in 2021. Kishan's strike rate of 169.47 is the second highest among all batters on the list, behind only Karanbir Singh of Austria who scored 1,472 runs in 2025 at a strike rate of 174.20.

Kishan contributed 20 runs off 18 balls in the Asian Games final before being bowled by Arafat Minhas. The achievement underlines the volume and consistency Kishan maintained across T20I assignments throughout 2026.

CricHubb Take

Kishan's lower aggregate than Suryakumar but higher strike rate suggests he achieved the milestone in fewer innings, pointing to sustained explosiveness rather than volume.
