Tilak Varma says India must introspect on bowling after T20I series ends in draw

Tilak Varma says India must improve their bowling after the T20I series against the West Indies ended in a 2-2 draw.

Tilak Varma said India must fix a few things in the bowling before they head to New Zealand. Speaking after the rain-ruined fifth T20I in Bengaluru, the vice-captain watched the decider cut to nine overs and then abandoned with India 118 for five.

The batting has been solid. India passed 200 in every completed innings, and Nitish Reddy's cameo in Hyderabad plus Naman Dhir's pressure bowling both stood out. Varma, who scored 122 runs at 40.67 across four innings, is happy to bat anywhere the combination needs him—even if he'd rather stay at three. He batted at five or six throughout the series.

He said the team would carry forward the positives when they face New Zealand starting October 22. The next assignment begins five days after the West Indies series concluded.

CricHubb Take

The surface-level narrative credits India's batting depth. The real constraint is that the bowling unit still lacks a reliable third seamer who can execute plans when the first-choice pair is under pressure.
