India beat Pakistan by 19 runs to retain the Asian Games men's cricket gold medal at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin on Saturday. BCCI president Jay Shah congratulated the team and thanked Japan for developing the sport in the region.

Abhishek Sharma scored 61 off 28 balls and Tilak Varma made an unbeaten 51 off 22 as India posted 211 for six. Hasan Nawaz hit 96 in Pakistan's reply but the target proved beyond reach.

The win was India's seventh successive T20I victory over Pakistan since 2021. The team returns to India on Sunday and will train on Tuesday ahead of the first T20I against the West Indies in Lucknow.

India's next challenge is adapting to a West Indies attack that won't allow the same scoring windows; Lucknow's surface may expose whether this T20I core can adjust to fuller lengths and slower pace.
