Tilak Varma scores unbeaten 51 to guide India to four-wicket win over New Zealand
Varma and Reddy's 69-run stand rescued India from 112 for 6 and sealed a four-wicket victory with one ball to spare.
Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 51 off 26 balls as India chased down 181 to beat New Zealand by four wickets in the second T20I at Christchurch. Varma and Nitish Kumar Reddy added an unbroken 69 runs for the seventh wicket after India had slipped to 112 for 6. The partnership came off 30 balls.
New Zealand had posted 180, led by Glenn Phillips' 70 and Bevon Jacobs' 58. Mitchell Santner took 4 for 21, but Varma and Reddy accelerated in the final overs to complete the chase with one ball remaining. Naman Dhir had earlier scored 31 off 17 balls.
The win gave India a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. The third T20I will be played in Wellington.

The chase showed Varma can play the long game when required. His willingness to take the match deep rather than force the issue early may define how India use him in future high-pressure chases.
