Tushar Deshpande claimed a hat-trick and finished with 5 for 17 in seven overs as Mumbai bowled Chandigarh out for 78 on the second day of their Ranji Trophy match at the Wankhede Stadium on October 12. The pacer dismissed Arjun Azad, Shivam Bhambri and Dipender Kush with consecutive deliveries.

Deshpande reached his 50th First-Class match and said he wanted to make the milestone special. He added that he was alert to patches on the wicket offering seam movement and focused on bowling in the right areas.

Mumbai had scored 429 in their first innings. Chandigarh followed on, needing to avoid an innings defeat. Deshpande said he was overlooked for the India A tour of New Zealand but remains focused on performance rather than selection.

CricHubb Take

Deshpande's hat-trick came on the same day Mumbai posted 429 — a reminder that one match-winning spell can still change a game when the rest of the side has already done the heavy lifting.
