Tushar Deshpande says first session key in Mumbai's innings win
Deshpande credited the morning session for Mumbai's second consecutive bonus-point innings victory in the Ranji Trophy.
Tushar Deshpande said the opening session proved decisive in Mumbai's innings victory over Himachal Pradesh on Sunday. The left-arm seamer dismissed captain Pukhraj Mann to end a fourth-wicket stand, after which Mohit Avasthi took five wickets to complete the bonus-point win.
Deshpande told Sportstar that early wickets mattered on a flat surface that offered little help later. He said Mumbai's fitness levels are high at this stage of the season and the team has secured two bonus points from its opening matches.
Mumbai next faces Haryana at the MCA-BKC ground. Deshpande said the side must tighten its lines when defending smaller totals.
