Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 92 from 81 balls for East Zone against Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy semi-final at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. He became the youngest player to score a fifty in Duleep Trophy history at 15 years and 157 days.

Sooryavanshi reached his fifty off 42 balls and hit seven fours and seven sixes before falling eight runs short of becoming the youngest Duleep Trophy centurion. He also served as stand-in captain after Ishan Kishan suffered a finger injury.

Central Zone were bowled out for 266 on day one. East Zone matched that total but lost their last ten wickets for 105 runs in their second innings.

CricHubb Take

Sooryavanshi's 92 shows he can sustain an aggressive approach across formats but the eight-run margin to Sachin Tendulkar's Duleep record highlights how fine the line is between prodigy status and historic achievement.
