Morne Morkel says India will rotate players for West Indies T20Is

Morkel confirmed Sooryavanshi will not receive guarantees of a starting place as India rotate players after the Asian Games.

India bowling coach Morne Morkel said the team will rotate players for the five-match T20I series against the West Indies that begins on Tuesday in Lucknow. He said decisions on the playing XI rest with head coach Gautam Gambhir, captain Shreyas Iyer and selectors, and the priority remains finding the best combination for the next World Cup.

Morkel said the squad returned from the Asian Games gold medal win in Japan and needs to assess fitness after travel and jet lag. He confirmed Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will not receive guarantees of a starting place despite the 15-year-old's inclusion in the squad.

Morkel added that Sooryavanshi benefits from training alongside senior players even without regular game time, and the teenager can learn by observing how established batsmen prepare and build innings.

India's refusal to guarantee Sooryavanshi a start shows the management values squad depth over individual development at this stage.
