Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 92 for East Zone against Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy semifinal in Bengaluru. The 15-year-old fell eight runs short of Sachin Tendulkar's record as the youngest centurion in the competition.

Sooryavanshi reached his half-century in 42 balls, becoming the youngest player to score a fifty in Duleep Trophy history. Rajat Patidar took a sensational catch to end the innings on the third day.

East Zone reached the final with a four-wicket victory. The team will face either South Zone or North Zone at Chepauk from September 6.

CricHubb Take

Missing the century by such a narrow margin may prove more valuable for Sooryavanshi's development than achieving it, as it demonstrates both his scoring range and areas for refinement.
