Vaibhav Sooryavanshi took two wickets in three overs for East Zone against North East Zone in the Duleep Trophy. The 15-year-old claimed the wickets after captain Ishan Kishan handed him the ball following a quiet batting performance where he scored eight runs. Sooryavanshi said Ishan Kishan thought he was taking a risk by giving him the ball. The youngster responded with figures of 2 for 11 at an economy of 3.67 after the follow-on was enforced.

East Zone secured victory in the quarter-final match. Sooryavanshi's bowling cameo added another dimension to his developing game after his reputation was built primarily on batting exploits. He struck twice in the latter's second innings during East Zone's victory.

The 15-year-old revealed Ishan Kishan took a chance by handing him the ball, but backed his own ability as a wicket-taker. Sooryavanshi enjoyed bowling in the Duleep Trophy quarterfinal and showed his wicket-taking prowess.
