India names squad for Afghanistan T20I series
India named a 15-member squad for the Afghanistan T20I series, with Bumrah and Samson returning subject to fitness.
The BCCI men's selection committee named a 15-member squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan on Tuesday. Shreyas Iyer will captain the side, with Tilak Varma named vice-captain.
Sanju Samson returns to the squad after missing the Zimbabwe tour. Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy were included subject to fitness clearance. The three matches will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi between September 13 and 17.
Hardik Pandya was not considered after picking up a fresh injury during rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. The series forms part of India's preparation for the Asian Games cricket event in Japan later this month.
