Sanju Samson reached his fifty in 21 balls against West Indies in Ranchi, matching Virat Kohli's record set in Mumbai in 2019. He struck six fours and three sixes, finishing with 82 off 41 before holing out trying to clear the rope again. Samson and Abhishek Sharma added 42 for the first wicket, and India were 79 for one after the powerplay. Quinton de Kock still owns the quickest fifty against West Indies in T20Is at 15 balls in Centurion in 2023. Samson said nothing changed technically between his lean run and this innings, insisting he backs his instincts and takes responsibility when he gets out. India posted 249 for five in the match.

CricHubb Take

Samson's willingness to absorb early criticism and maintain an aggressive approach shows the team has accepted that high-risk opening is part of the T20 brief, even when individual scores fluctuate.
