Wasim Jaffer says mutual respect outweighs rivalry between Kohli and Rohit
Wasim Jaffer says mutual respect between Kohli and Rohit outweighs any rivalry. He traces Rohit's rise to the day he moved up to open.
Wasim Jaffer sees no real friction between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. On his YouTube channel he put their relationship on a level with the respect he felt among his own generation of players.
He traced the turning point to the 2013 Champions Trophy, when Rohit first opened the batting. That switch, Jaffer said, turned Sharma into a fixture in India's top three and changed the shape of his career.
Kohli struck his 55th ODI hundred in the opening match against West Indies. In the second, Rohit reached 12,000 ODI runs, the third Indian after Tendulkar and Kohli to get there.

The next captaincy transition will test whether the Kohli-Rohit template of respect still holds once both are selectors rather than peers.
