BCCI to discuss Washington Sundar back-up at review meeting
BCCI set to review back-up options for Washington Sundar amid selection debate.
The BCCI will discuss options to back up Washington Sundar at its review meeting in Mumbai on Thursday. Former India batter S Badrinath questioned Sundar's selection for the Afghanistan T20I series, citing coach Gautam Gambhir's preferences. Sundar is closing in on fitness approvals.
The meeting will also cover India's plans for the 2027 ODI World Cup and player availability for the New Zealand tour. Krunal Pandya is among the names under consideration for the left-arm spinner role. Hardik Pandya remains unavailable.
The Afghanistan series starts on 13 September in New Delhi.

The discussion shows selectors are already planning for Sundar's potential unavailability rather than assuming he will be fit for every assignment.
