New Zealand replace injured Chapman and Foulkes with Clarkson and Tickner

Clarkson and Tickner replace Chapman and Foulkes in New Zealand's T20I squad for the five-match series against India starting October 22.

New Zealand have named all-rounder Josh Clarkson and fast bowler Blair Tickner as replacements for Mark Chapman and Zak Foulkes in their T20I squad for the five-match series against India. Chapman suffered a left hamstring tear during the European T20 league last month and expects to recover for the ODI series. Foulkes injured his right hip flexor during a recent Canterbury training session and has no confirmed return date.

Head coach Rob Walter said he was disappointed to lose both players but welcomed the new arrivals. The series begins at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on October 22 and concludes in Hamilton on November 1. Mitchell Santner captains the 16-man squad that includes Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips and Lockie Ferguson.

Clarkson and Tickner have two weeks to prepare before New Zealand face the T20 World Cup holders.

CricHubb Take

The double injury forces New Zealand to integrate two fresh players into a squad that has little time to gel before the first match. Chapman was the primary middle-order left-hander, so the batting depth will be tested immediately.
