Adam Zampa joins Hobart Hurricanes on two-year BBL deal
Zampa signs two-year deal with Hobart; criticises BBL contracting system for favouring overseas players.
Adam Zampa has signed a two-year deal with Hobart Hurricanes covering BBL16 and BBL17. The Australia leg-spinner will play for a record-equalling fifth Big Bash club. He cited familiar faces and the team's bowling resources as key factors in his decision.
Zampa says the BBL's new contracting system still favours overseas players despite the draft being scrapped and clubs gaining greater salary-cap freedom. The leg-spinner believes overseas players continue to get the better end of the deal under the revised system.
Hobart's acquisition of Zampa strengthens their white-ball bowling attack. The team will benefit from his experience in T20 cricket across multiple leagues.
