Ayush Badoni scores second successive Ranji double century
Ayush Badoni joined an elite list by scoring consecutive first-class double centuries for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy.
Delhi captain Ayush Badoni scored his second consecutive first-class double century on Tuesday, reaching 200 off 216 balls against Jharkhand in Ranchi. The innings contained 28 fours and three sixes. Last week he made a career-best 217 against Gujarat at the Air Force Ground in Palam.
Badoni became the 21st Indian to score back-to-back first-class double centuries and the third Delhi batter after Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli to achieve the feat. He has now scored more than 500 runs in four innings this season at an average of 168.66. His previous double century came in the Duleep Trophy for North Zone.
Delhi reached 309 for five on the opening day and extended their advantage on day two. Badoni's innings leaves him one short of equalling the world record of two successive first-class double centuries achieved more than once.
