BCCI to name new chief selector after Agarkar term ends

Parthiv Patel and Pragyan Ojha are frontrunners to succeed Ajit Agarkar as BCCI chief selector at Friday’s AGM.

The BCCI will appoint a new men’s chief selector at its Annual General Meeting on Friday as Ajit Agarkar’s tenure concludes this month. Agarkar took charge on July 4, 2023, and oversaw India’s T20 World Cup win in 2024 and Champions Trophy victory last year.

Parthiv Patel and Pragyan Ojha are the leading candidates to replace him. Both former India players have three IPL titles each. The AGM will also address India’s nomination to the International Cricket Council.

Agarkar chaired his final selection meeting last week when squads for the West Indies white-ball series were named.
