Matthew Breetzke's 112 and Keshav Maharaj's four wickets gave South Africa a 67-run win in the first ODI in Durban.
Matthew Breetzke scored 112 as South Africa beat Australia by 67 runs in the first ODI at Kingsmead, Durban on Thursday. South Africa posted 297 for eight after Breetzke and Marco Jansen added 107 for the sixth wicket. Jansen made 75 from 59 balls.
Australia reached 129 for one in their chase but lost their last nine wickets for 101 runs to finish on 230. Keshav Maharaj took four for 20 and Bjorn Fortuin claimed two for 34. Mitch Marsh made 60 and Travis Head scored 36 for the tourists.
Australia captain Mitch Marsh said the side fell well short after a fast start. South Africa captain Temba Bavuma said the win came from a good fight from batters and bowlers. The second ODI is in Johannesburg on Sunday.
