CSK appoint Zaheer Khan as head coach for IPL 2027

Chennai Super Kings appointed Zaheer Khan as head coach for IPL 2027, replacing Stephen Fleming after his 18-year tenure. Managing director KS Viswanathan said the decision followed discussions with MS Dhoni, who recommended Zaheer for the role.

Viswanathan cited Zaheer's tactical acumen and bowling expertise as key factors, noting the franchise needs improvement in pace bowling after missing the playoffs since 2023. Zaheer previously worked in operations with Mumbai Indians and as mentor at Lucknow Super Giants.

Zaheer played 100 IPL matches and took 102 wickets. He said the appointment was an honour and looked forward to joining one of the IPL's most successful franchises.
