Faf du Plessis release named as biggest SA20 retention surprise

Former South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris said Faf du Plessis' release by Joburg Super Kings was the biggest surprise among the SA20 pre-auction retention decisions. Du Plessis still has a lot to offer as a player, according to Morris.

Morris noted that Joburg Super Kings are looking to build for the future under new head coach Albie Morkel. He did not rule out a return for du Plessis through the auction, adding that the Super Kings franchise often looks to get players back that way.

Mitchell Marsh was among the new international recruits Morris singled out as a player he is keen to watch in the fifth season. Marsh will make his SA20 debut for Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
