Gill reflects on missed opportunities after Sri Lanka draw
Shubman Gill sees the positives despite Sri Lanka forcing a draw in Colombo.
India captain Shubman Gill said there were plenty to take from their 1-0 series win in Sri Lanka, even though the second Test finished level in Colombo. Sri Lanka, with Sonal Dinusha leading the way, batted out the follow-on and denied India the clean sweep.
Gill's call to enforce the follow-on drew questions after the bowlers failed to break through. Mohammed Siraj wasn't at his sharpest across the series, but Gill made clear the pacer wasn't carrying an injury.
Former India batter Mohammad Kaif wondered why the side couldn't pinpoint Dinusha's weakness at Colombo. The draw leaves India's World Test Championship final hopes in a tighter spot than they'd have liked.
