Joe Root surpasses Sachin Tendulkar's Test half-century record during England win

Joe Root scored an unbeaten 62 to break Sachin Tendulkar's record for most Test half-centuries as England completed an eight-wicket win on day four of the third Test at Edgbaston. His 69th fifty moved him one clear of Tendulkar's previous mark of 68.

Jordan Cox remained not out on 59 as England chased down 130 despite losing early wickets. Root survived a reprieve on a no-ball after being bowled by Mohammed Ali during the innings.

England completed a 3-0 series whitewash over Pakistan. Root said the squad had adapted to handling difficult situations and felt prepared for their upcoming tour of South Africa.
