Kieron Pollard appointed Mumbai Indians head coach for IPL 2027

Kieron Pollard was elevated as Mumbai Indians head coach for the 2027 season on Saturday. The former West Indies all-rounder had been serving as the franchise's batting coach since retiring from the IPL in 2022.

Pollard played 189 matches for Mumbai Indians across 13 years, scoring 3,412 runs and taking 69 wickets while winning the title five times. The franchise finished ninth in IPL 2026, winning just four of 14 matches.

Pollard said it was an honour to take the role and that he looked forward to building on the team's legacy. He added that he understood what Mumbai Indians stand for and the responsibility that comes with representing the Blue and Gold.
