Kieron Pollard withdraws from SA20 after MI appointment

Kieron Pollard told Joburg Super Kings he won't play in the 2027 SA20 season after Mumbai Indians named him head coach. They bought him for R1.5 million at the auction this month.

He replaced Mahela Jayawardene on Saturday. MI Cape Town, the group's sister franchise, passed on him and signed Shimron Hetmyer instead for the same money.

An MI source said Pollard could have played elsewhere, but he chose not to create a conflict between his coaching role and another franchise. He still coaches MI London in The Hundred and plays for MI Emirates and MI New York.
