Mayank Yadav sticks to raw pace in second T20I; Gambhir backs speed over variations
Mayank Yadav took three wickets in the second T20I against West Indies after ditching slower deliveries and relying on raw pace. He dismissed Kamil Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell with deliveries at 143.6 kph, 144.5 kph and 149.5 kph respectively. India head coach Gautam Gambhir said fast bowlers should bowl fast and praised Yadav for following that approach.
Yadav had experimented with slower balls in the series opener and was punished. He returned to high pace in Ranchi and troubled the West Indies top order before India lost by six wickets. Gambhir added that it is a fast bowler's responsibility to bowl quickly if they have the gift of pace.
Yadav still has work to do on his fielding after dropping a catch during the match.
