Santner rejects BBL deal to stay available for India series and Australia Tests

Santner turned down a BBL contract to remain available for New Zealand’s packed international schedule.

Mitchell Santner turned down a Big Bash League contract to remain available for New Zealand’s home series against India and the subsequent Test tour of Australia. The New Zealand limited-overs captain said he does not judge players who accept casual national contracts that allow franchise participation alongside international duty.

Santner expects early-season movement to test India when the two sides meet later this year. He wants to lead the white-ball sides and play more Test cricket.

New Zealand have home white-ball and Test series against India and a Test tour of Australia coming up this year.
