Delhi Police request does not alter India-Afghanistan T20I schedule
The first India-Afghanistan T20I will proceed on September 13 despite Delhi Police requesting a possible date change for security reasons.
The Delhi and District Cricket Association confirmed that the first T20I between India and Afghanistan will go ahead as scheduled on September 13 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Delhi Police had asked the DDCA to consider rescheduling the fixture due to security arrangements for the BRICS Summit.
The DDCA stated that the final decision rests with the BCCI. The three-match series will be played entirely at the Arun Jaitley Stadium under day-night conditions.
Afghanistan arrive in India after competing in the Asian Games and the Women's Asia Cup. The series marks their first bilateral engagement with India since 2024.
