Shafali Verma hits fastest fifty in Women's Asia Cup history

Shafali Verma smashed the fastest fifty in Women's Asia Cup history off 24 balls as India defeated Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final in Dubai on Sunday. She finished with 68 from 39 balls in India's total of 183 for five. Smriti Mandhana scored 59 and added 129 runs for the opening wicket with Verma.

The partnership set a new world record for the highest T20I final stand. Shree Charani took four wickets as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 111. India claimed a record-extending eighth Asia Cup title.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur praised Verma's tournament performance. Head coach Amol Muzumdar credited the strong batting effort and the three-pronged spin attack for the victory.
