Sunil Gavaskar questions Shamar Joseph for targeting Arshdeep Singh

Gavaskar said Joseph should have aimed at the stumps rather than the body in the closing stages.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar criticised West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph for bowling short-pitched deliveries at Arshdeep Singh during the final over of the fourth T20I in Hyderabad. Gavaskar said Joseph aimed at the batter when the stumps were available and the result was already decided.

Arshdeep was struck on the shoulder and required treatment before eventually retiring hurt. India captain Shreyas Iyer declared the innings with three balls remaining after the injury. West Indies won the match by 24 runs to level the series at 2-2.

Wicketkeeper Sanju Samson said Arshdeep was icing his shoulder and the team hoped for a quick recovery ahead of the deciding match in Bengaluru on Saturday.
