Suryakumar Yadav admits he did not put in enough effort in ODIs

Suryakumar Yadav admitted that he was disappointed with himself and felt he did not put in the required effort to succeed in the 50-over format. The batter said he takes the blame himself for failing to crack ODI cricket. He expressed regret over his limited impact in the longer format.

Suryakumar also addressed being removed as India's T20I captain after leading the team to T20 World Cup victory. He said he had been planning for the next two years when selectors informed him it was time to move on. He did not question the decision to hand the captaincy to Shreyas Iyer.

The batter contemplated whether he should continue playing cricket after the sacking. His wife helped him rediscover his passion for the game during that period. Suryakumar remains available for selection whenever the selectors deem it appropriate.
