Suryakumar Yadav says he did not put in enough effort in ODI cricket
Suryakumar Yadav admitted he let 20 or 25 ODIs slip past without making the format his own and takes the blame for his limited success.
Suryakumar Yadav admitted he did not put in enough effort to succeed in ODI cricket and takes the blame for his limited success in the format. He scored 773 runs in 35 innings at an average of 25.76 and a strike rate just over 105, with four fifties and a best of 72 not out.
After the 2023 World Cup final, he said, he simply didn't do the work. By the time he looked up, his place had gone. The T20I captaincy followed, then the dip in form, then the axe.
He had been mapping out the next two years when the call came. For a moment he wondered whether to keep going at all. Someone told him to stay, so he stayed.
