Nasser Hussain says Pietersen can help Banton's middle-order role

Nasser Hussain said Kevin Pietersen's appointment as white-ball mentor could aid Tom Banton's development in the middle order. Banton remained unbeaten on 52 from 24 balls as England chased 146 to beat Sri Lanka by six wickets in Cardiff on Thursday and seal the T20I series with a match to spare.

Hussain noted that Pietersen had praised Banton early in his career at Somerset before the batter lost his way. He said Pietersen's presence would now push Banton to keep improving after the batter's successful switch from opener. England have now beaten Sri Lanka in 14 consecutive T20Is.

Liam Dawson took three for 32 and Jamie Overton claimed two for 23 as Sri Lanka were restricted to 145 for nine. Jos Buttler became the first player to reach 15,000 T20 runs during the chase.
