West Indies stay unbeaten; Sammy targets 2-0 sweep

West Indies coach Daren Sammy said his team remains on course for its World Test Championship goals after an eight-wicket win in Dhaka. The visitors are still unbeaten in the 2025-27 cycle and want to complete a series sweep when the second Test begins on Thursday in Sylhet.

Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons said his side must improve its batting after the first-Test defeat. Simmons also indicated that Taijul Islam could lose his place, while Mushfiqur Rahim is expected to return. The hosts may move away from the spin-heavy approach they used in Mirpur.

Sammy called a 2-0 series win a potential Christmas present. Bangladesh need a victory to square the two-match series.
