Ayush Badoni hits second consecutive Ranji double century for Delhi
Badoni's unbeaten 210 follows his 217 against Gujarat and puts him level with Kohli and Gambhir.
Ayush Badoni scored his second successive Ranji Trophy double century on Tuesday, remaining unbeaten on 210 off 228 deliveries against Jharkhand in Ranchi. The Delhi captain joined Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli as the third Delhi batter to achieve back-to-back double tons in first-class cricket. He also equalled the first-class world record for two double centuries in consecutive innings.
Badoni added an unbroken 334-run stand for the sixth wicket with Sumit Mathur, who scored an unbeaten 150. Delhi declared their first innings at 515 for five. Jharkhand reached 131 for four at stumps, trailing by 384 runs with six wickets remaining.
The 26-year-old's run glut follows his omission from recent India A tours. Coach Devender Sharma said the India A snub motivated Badoni to score in every innings this season. Rishabh Pant had earlier advised the young batter to focus on big scores to earn an India call-up.
