Mark Wood announces retirement from international cricket

England fast bowler Mark Wood has retired from international cricket after a career hampered by recurring injuries. The 36-year-old took 253 wickets across 146 matches in all three formats.

Wood said medical advice ruled out further Test and 50-over cricket. His final Test appearance came in the Ashes clash in Perth in November 2025, where he took 119 wickets in 38 Tests at an average of 30.79.

Wood claimed 80 ODI wickets from 70 matches, including 18 at the 2019 World Cup. He also took 54 T20I wickets from 38 matches, with nine coming during England's 2022 T20 World Cup campaign.
