India women beat Japan by eight wickets in Asian Games quarter-final

Shree Charani’s four for 10 helped India dismiss Japan for 57 and chase the target in five overs at the Asian Games.

India defeated Japan by eight wickets in the women’s Asian Games T20 quarter-final at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin on Friday. Shree Charani took four for 10 and Shafali Verma claimed two for 13 as Japan were bowled out for 57. Only three boundaries were scored in the innings.

Shafali Verma remained unbeaten on 40 off 15 balls with six fours and two sixes during the chase. India reached the target in five overs for the loss of two wickets. Richa Ghosh finished on 12 not out.

The defending champions will face Bangladesh in the semi-final on Sunday after Bangladesh advanced when their quarter-final against China was washed out.
