Pakistan name replacement for injured pacer Salman Mirza at Asian Games

Pakistan have replaced injured pacer Salman Mirza with Mohammad Wasim Jr in their Asian Games squad ahead of the September 28 quarter-finals.

Pakistan have added fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jr to their Asian Games squad after left-arm pacer Salman Mirza was ruled out with a fractured left thumb. Mirza is expected to return to full fitness by early October.

The Pakistan team, led by Sahibzada Farhan with Abdul Samad as vice-captain, will begin a training camp in Karachi on Monday before departing for Japan on Thursday. Five squad members will join after completing their Caribbean Premier League commitments.

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh received direct entry to the quarter-finals of the men's competition, which begins on September 28. India and Pakistan can only meet in the bronze or gold medal match.
