Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became the youngest Duleep Trophy half-centurion with 92 against Central Zone, falling eight runs short of Sachin Tendulkar's record.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 92 off 81 balls for East Zone against Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy semi-final at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The 15-year-old became the youngest player to score a half-century in Duleep Trophy history at 15 years and 157 days, breaking a 57-year-old record set by Laxman Singh.
Sooryavanshi reached his fifty in 42 balls and added 69 runs in an opening stand with Abhimanyu Easwaran. He fell eight runs short of becoming the youngest Duleep Trophy centurion, a record held by Sachin Tendulkar. East Zone matched Central Zone's first-innings total of 266.
Sooryavanshi also served as stand-in captain after Ishan Kishan suffered a finger injury. Central Zone ended day two at 45 for three wickets.
