Ajinkya Rahane says Rohit retirement talk overstates discord with Agarkar

Former India batter Ajinkya Rahane said reports of Rohit Sharma's retirement stemmed from speculation rather than any confirmed rift with selector Ajit Agarkar. Rahane said the retirement discussion had been exaggerated and that the issue should now be set aside after Agarkar is expected to leave the role.

Rahane spoke ahead of India's three-match ODI series against West Indies, which begins on Sunday in Thiruvananthapuram. He said the public focus on Rohit had overshadowed the team's preparations for next year's World Cup in South Africa.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli trained with the squad at Greenfield International Stadium on Thursday. Both players are set to feature in the series as India build toward the 2027 tournament.
